How long have you been practising law, and how long have you been with Fee Langstone?

I joined the profession in 2009 and started practising in criminal law. I spent 18 months in London working in the insurance industry and on my return to Auckland I realised that my heart lay with civil litigation and particularly the insurance industry. After working for another insurance litigation firm, I began working at Fee Langstone in April 2019.

If you weren’t a lawyer, what do you think you’d be doing?

I don’t even think about it! My childhood dream was to be a lawyer and I never strayed from the path I set myself. Although I think my dream was more American courtroom drama lawyer than insurance litigator!

What do you think sets Fee Langstone apart from other firms?

Although Fee Langstone is considered boutique in that it’s a specialist in insurance litigation, it is still one of the larger litigation firms in New Zealand. As such, our people have a wealth of expertise over a broad range of areas.

What makes insurance law different from other areas of practice?

Insurance litigation is a varied area of the law which regularly involves complicated questions and disputes, and no two days are ever the same. I also appreciate that, despite its diversity, insurance litigation is a specialist area where our expertise is valued by our clients.

If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?

Teleportation is objectively the best superpower as it would significantly save both time and money. The possibilities are endless – I could leave the house every morning an hour later and still be on time for work, I could pop down to see my family in Christchurch for lunch, and head to the beach in Hawaii for the weekend.
