Getting to know Michelle Kilham
/Michelle is an experienced commercial litigator who acts on a broad range of commercial disputes. She commenced practice in 2011 and has acted for a variety of individuals and entities including large corporates, banks, insolvency practitioners and insurers. Michelle has particular expertise in disputes involving professional liability, restructuring and insolvency, company law, trusts and property.
Michelle first joined Fee Langstone in 2017 after gaining experience in both large and boutique New Zealand firms. She enjoyed working with the team of experts at Fee Langstone and the collegiality of the firm.
In 2019, Michelle was dragged away from Fee Langstone to join her partner in London, with a promise to return in a year or so. She then spent a couple of years working at Clyde & Co LLP in its professional and financial disputes team, including working remotely from New Zealand during the Covid-19 pandemic. Although there is a big difference in the size of the two firms, she found the transition easy because of their shared values and culture. Returning to Fee Langstone was a natural decision for Michelle given the firm’s high-quality work, along with friendly and approachable colleagues who genuinely enjoy each other’s company.
While she misses the long summer evenings of the northern hemisphere, Michelle is enjoying getting back to her antipodean roots. Being at Fee Langstone brings a fresh perspective to her work. She is also glad to see that a few more cat owners have joined the firm and balanced out the dog-owner contingent! Michelle’s own cat, Lex, was very much missed while she was in London.
In her free time, Michelle enjoys reading, travelling (as much as that is possible at the moment) and honing her cooking skills, often guided by the wisdom of Ottolenghi.
Fee Langstone is delighted to welcome Michelle back to the firm.
