Get to know Jono
/How long have you been practising law, and how long have you been with Fee Langstone?
I joined Fee Langstone in February 2023. This is my first role in a law firm, so I am excited to get stuck in and begin my legal career. I will be admitted to the Bar around August this year.
If you weren’t a lawyer, what do you think you’d be doing?
I studied economics at university and particularly enjoyed the business aspect it incorporates. I also enjoy problem solving and helping other people so I probably would have gone into a business advisory or consulting-type role.
What do you think sets Fee Langstone apart from other firms?
The culture is fantastic. The people here are super-helpful and friendly, which has made the transition into a professional working environment easy. There is a perfect balance of a laid-back environment while also working hard to achieve the best results for our clients.
What makes insurance law different from other areas of practice?
Insurance based litigation sounds quite niche and specific, however, it is actually very broad. As we act for both insurers and the insured there is a wide range of matters we are involved in. Already, I have been exposed to many areas within insurance law, such as negligence cases, professional disciplinary complaints, defamation cases and regulatory actions. This diversity makes every day different and provides a great opportunity to always be learning and developing as a lawyer.
What are three things still left on your bucket list?
Play Augusta National Golf Course in the U.S (where the Masters is played), watch a live cricket game in India, and travel to Southeast Asia.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Definitely the ability to fly. I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie, and it would also mean I could fly anywhere across the world!
What’s your favourite music? What’s your go-to karaoke song?
I listen to quite a few different genres, but some of my favourites are surf rock, rap, hip hop and country. My go-to karaoke song would have to be a classic sing-along, ‘Tommy Meet Krista’ by Thirsty Merc.
If you could have dinner with any guest, who would you choose?
I’m a sucker for history, so someone like Nelson Mandela or Martin Luther King would be awesome.
