Get to know Edward
/How long have you been practising law, and how long have you been with Fee Langstone?
I was admitted in 2012 and have practised in big firms, boutique firms and other insurance litigation teams since then. I joined Fee Langstone in January 2022.
If you weren’t a lawyer, what do you think you’d be doing?
Hopefully working in some sort of policy/public sector role. I have a BA in Political Studies and have always been interested in the mechanics of how policy is made and how it contributes to a democracy’s functioning.
What do you think sets Fee Langstone apart from other firms?
Fee Langstone’s open team structure means that as a litigation practice it has the expertise, resources and systems to rival much bigger firms, while retaining all the workplace culture advantages of a smaller, close-knit practice.
What makes insurance law different from other areas of practice?
Insurance litigation has just as much variety in practice as general litigation work. It also has the benefit of the added complexity that can arise out of the nature of the relationship between the insurer and the ultimate recipient of legal advice.
What are three things still left on your bucket list?
See the All Blacks play at Ellis Park, walk the Appalachian Trail, explore more of Africa.
If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?
The ability to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Because if we don’t…
What’s your favourite music? What’s your go-to karaoke song?
I try not to play favourites and have pretty broad tastes, so long as it sounds good.
If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would you choose?
David Attenborough. He’s been doing amazing work for decades, so he’d have some very cool stories to tell.
