Get to Know Ashleigh
/How long have you been practising law, and how long have you been with Fee Langstone?
I was admitted to the High Court of New Zealand in 2015 and the Supreme Court of Victoria, Australia in 2016. I have practiced at boutique and medium sized law firms in Melbourne and Auckland since 2016. I recently joined Fee Langstone in July this year.
If you weren’t a lawyer, what do you think you’d be doing?
I’m an open-minded and curious person, and I enjoy solving problems, so something science based would have been a good fit for me. In another life, I may have also pursued acting. I did a lot of acting as a child. I love that acting requires you to put yourself in the shoes of your character and unearth their psychological motivations. The story telling and imaginative aspects of acting are also pretty cool.
What do you think sets Fee Langstone apart from other firms?
Definitely the culture. People genuinely enjoy working at Fee Langstone. More than any other firm I’ve worked at. There are no big egos or overt competitiveness, and no one takes themselves too seriously. People just want the best results for clients!
What makes insurance law different from other areas of practice?
No file is the same. Because of the diversity of the files, insurance lawyers are constantly learning and developing, and have a wide breath of knowledge. We also get the chance to learn about the inner workings and nuances of insureds’ businesses, which can be challenging but fascinating. I have a lot of respect for the insureds/ business owners and their crafts.
What are three things still left on your bucket list?
See the pyramids in Egypt and teach hot yoga (or hot pilates). Someday I’d also like to have a golf handicap of less than 10 but that’s a fair way off as I’ve just started playing.
Do you have a pet and have they visited the Fee Langstone office?
Yes, I have a dog. She is a Pomchi (Pomeranian cross) and her name is Frankie. Frankie has visited Fee Langstone several times. She loves the attention she gets when she comes into work!
What’s your favourite music? What’s your go-to karaoke song?
I appreciate all music genres. From rock and rap to country music. My go to karaoke song would be any 80’s or 90’s top hit – that way other people sing along with me! Hotel California by the Eagles, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen and Khe Sanh by Cold Chisel to name a few…
