Get to know Tim
/How long have you been practising law, and how long have you been with Fee Langstone?
I started practice in Wellington in 2015 at a boutique litigation firm. After gaining a couple of years of experience I moved to Melbourne where I worked for a prominent Australian/New Zealand insurance law firm. In October 2019 I moved to London where I worked for Clyde & Co LLP, but unfortunately Covid derailed my overseas adventure and so in December 2020 I returned to NZ and started work with Fee Langstone
If you weren’t a lawyer, what do you think you’d be doing?
I think I would probably be a teacher. English or History perhaps. Definitely not Maths, which was not my favourite subject!
What do you think sets Fee Langstone apart from other firms?
Probably the high quality of work coupled with a really positive culture.
What makes insurance law different from other areas of practice?
I think it is more nuanced. Adding all of the various complexities of insurance law on top of what are already complex legal and factual disputes makes for a more challenging, but ultimately more rewarding experience.
What are three things still left on your bucket list?
I don’t really have a bucket list… but in the short term there are a number of tramping tracks dotted about the South Island which I would like to knock off: Westies hut, Te Araroa Trail, Dusky Track to name a few.
If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?
A difficult question – I’ve always wanted to be able to fly… it would make commuting a whole lot easier!
What’s your favourite music? What’s your go-to karaoke song?
The National/The Strokes & ‘Under Pressure’ by Queen.
If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would you choose?
Rick Stein – seems like an interesting guy, plus, he cooks!
